The Arts and Culture
Alliance of Jackson County (ACAJC) is looking for
community members who want to be a part of this exciting
organization.
Now
in its fifth year, the ACAJC is an organization which
endeavors to strengthen, support, and promote arts and
culture in
Jackson
County
. Activities over the past
few years include the public art displays along the
Riverwalk and the
Foote
Hospital
lobby; workshops & seminars for artists; symposiums for our
youth; an arts & cultural assessment of our
community; and most recently, a community driven
Community Cultural Plan.
The
ACAJC is in need of community members to serve on
various committees and/or volunteer to help with
specific projects. Possible projects include “Upscale
Garage Sale” in April 2008, art home tour in
September, office staffing at ART 634, developing a
calendar of
Jackson
’s arts and
cultural events, educational workshops, audience
research, public art selection committees, and public
awareness campaigns for
Jackson
County
arts and culture. Committees include: Education and Outreach,
Marketing and Membership, Public Art, Board Development,
and Fund Development.
Education and Outreach
The Education and Outreach Committee supports the
mission of the Arts and Culture Alliance of Jackson
County by organizing educational workshops and providing
other learning opportunities for area artists.
In addition, the E & O Committee links
educational opportunities and events to schools and
other community organizations.
Marketing and Membership
The Marketing and
Membership Committee works with the other committees to
publicize various ACAJC-sponsored projects and events.
In addition, the committee will be working with the Fund
Development and Executive Committees to set up the
organization’s membership structure and benefits.
Public Art
As part of an
Alliance
to strengthen
Jackson
County
’s commitment to arts, the Public Art Committee promotes the display
of public art. Activities of the Committee are diverse
including the development of public art sites, the
marketing of public art, the preservation and
maintenance of existing permanent pieces of public
sculpture, and public art education.
Board Development
The Board Development Committee finds and nominates
people for the
Alliance
board. Our current board has representatives from education, business,
non-profits, the arts, media, and city & county
government.
Fund Development
The Fund Development Committee will be working
closely with the Executive Committee of the Board to
secure adequate funding for projects and programs, and
with the Marketing Committee will be planning the
structure for organizations and individuals who wish to
become members of the ACAJC.
Each committee meets approximately once a month. For
