Learn the Art of Shameless
Self-Promotion!
"I went to one of the best art schools in the country, made
straight A's and they didn't teach us any of this!"
Artist marketing consultant Alyson B. Stanfield has
heard this complaint many times.
Alyson has been advising
artists since the early 1990s. Prior to 2002, when she
started ArtBizCoach.com, she counseled artists in her
position as an art museum curator and educator. Ms.
Stanfield has devoted a great deal of time to writing
about art. She has a regular column in Sculptural
Pursuit magazine, and writes a weekly motivational
business newsletter for visual artists. Ms. Stanfield
received her Master's degree in Art History from the University
of Texas at Austin. Her "Shameless Self
Promotion" seminar has been presented at venues all
across the U.S., and the Arts
and Cultural Alliance of Jackson County (ACAJC) is
pleased to bring her back to Jackson to
present this workshop for visual
artists throughout southern and central Michigan.
"Shameless
Self-Promotion to Energize Your Art Marketing" will be held on Saturday,
April 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ella
Sharp Museum of Art & History (3225 4th Street,
Jackson MI 49203).
"Most artists feel powerless when it comes to their careers,"
Stanfield said, adding, "But the artists who are
most successful are the ones who take charge of their
careers. What I do every day is encourage artists not to
wait for something to happen, but to take action
immediately. When they procrastinate, they are
postponing their success."
Participating artists will review and learn:
- Nine tools they must have
- How to promote themselves
- How to work with the media
- How to use printed marketing materials
- How to use effective promotional language
- How to speak in public
- How to expand their network
- How to form powerful community alliances
- How to speak in public
- How to stay motivated and leave with a complete
Marketing Plan!
